Our mission is to preserve New Church audio recordings and make them available to all. We provide audiobooks of works by Emanuel Swedenborg, recordings of New Church sermons, Swedenborgian classes, and more. These offer opportunities for Bible study and spiritual growth, exploring Biblical symbolism and New Church theology.

New Church Audio is a program of The New Church, an international Christian organization.

The New Church is a Christian denomination based on the Bible and the revelation given to Emanuel Swedenborg. We believe that true faith is loving the Lord Jesus Christ by following his teachings and being of service to others.

If you enjoyed listening, please consider making a donation to support this service.

  • Sell What You Have

Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 16 Oct, 2022

“Sell What You Have” (Mark 10:21) It started off simple: what do I need to do to get to heaven? You need to keep the commandments, the Lord said. I’ve kept them from my youth, was the reply of the young man. Then sell whatever you have and come follow Me. This the man couldn’t do, and went away sorrowful. What do we need to “sell” in order to follow the Lord and why might this be hard? | By Rev. Derek P. Elphick , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • Letting Go

Worship Service: Sermon only - 16 Oct, 2022

We can be doing all the right things - “turning up” for work, family, and friends; putting in a good day’s work; reading the Word; volunteering at church or in the community - but still lack “one thing” (Mark 10:21). This “one thing” is different for everyone, but the “letting go” part is the same - it’s hard, very hard to do, but not impossible. Once we see what’s holding us back we become mentally prepared to “sell,” take up our cross, and follow the Lord. | By Rev. Derek P. Elphick , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • Separating the Wheat from the Tares

Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 9 Oct, 2022

Wheat and tares are so similar that they are hard to tell apart at first. The same is true of many good and evil things in our life, and it is important to know the difference between them. | By Rev. Jeremy F. Simons , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • The Parable of the Wheat

Worship Service: Sermon only - 9 Oct, 2022

Charter Day celebrates the vision of the New Church that distinguishes our denomination. This parable describes how similar distinctions happen in the life of every person. All of us have good and evil thoughts and motives, and we need to learn to choose between the wheat and the tares as the time of harvest comes. | By Rev. Jeremy F. Simons , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • Humility and Confidence

    Charter Day Service - 7 Oct, 2022

    | By Rev. Coleman S. Glenn , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • The Tower of Babel

Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 2 Oct, 2022

The Tower of Babel is a parable about what happens to us when we place our needs and wants above others. We become so busy building our own “tower” of opinions and positions we find it difficult to “hear” what anyone else is saying. Thankfully, the Lord teaches us a new language. | By Rev. Derek P. Elphick , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • Babel

Worship Service: Sermon only - 2 Oct, 2022

“Babel” is an apt descriptor for our public discourse right now - it seems as if we’re all speaking a different language. In the ancient parable of the Tower of Babel, the Lord offers us a way out, a road map that teaches us a new language, the language of mutual love and respect. (Congregational Holy Supper follows) | By Rev. Derek P. Elphick , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • Memorial Service for B. Tryn Clark

    | By Rev. Thomas H. Rose , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • “Beware of the Leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees”

Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 25 Sep, 2022

It was unusual for the Pharisees and the Sadducees to agree about anything, but they were united in opposition to the Lord and His teaching. He compared their influence on the society at the time to leaven, although another time the Lord compared the kingdom of heaven to leaven added to bread dough. This is a story about how the Lord works with us to find what’s truly good in the world we live in. | By Rev. Kurt Hyland Asplundh , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • The Use of Leaven

Worship Service: Sermon only - 25 Sep, 2022

From the Law given to Moses to the Lord’s warnings to His disciples, leaven is used as a symbol of evil and falsity to be avoided. And yet the Lord also said, “the kingdom of heaven is like leaven.” (Matt. 13: 33) The Heavenly Doctrine reveals to us that evil and falsity are permitted by the Lord (carefully, under His Divine providence) to be of service as a “means of purification… promoting the union of goodness and truth in others” (DP 21). | By Rev. Kurt Hyland Asplundh , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • Memorial Service for Evangeline Smith

    Memorial Service - 19 Sep, 2022

  • How Do We Comfort Someone?

Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 18 Sep, 2022

When someone we care about is hurting, we hurt too and we want to help them feel better. There are good ways and not so good ways that we might try to offer comfort. Let's learn from the Lord, our Comforter, how to offer comfort to people around us. | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • Comfort

Worship Service: Sermon only - 18 Sep, 2022

Inspired by Rev. Derek Elphick's talk last Sunday, I've been thinking about what gathering and community can do for us. One thing that came to mind was comfort and consolation. When tragedy strikes (or just when normal life is too hard), it can make all the difference in the world to have caring people reach out to us and offer us comfort. This Sunday, we will explore the theme of comfort in scripture and how we can get better at comforting one another - M. Smith | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

Worship Service: Childrens Talk & Adult Sermon - 11 Sep, 2022

  • Spying Out the Land

Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 4 Sep, 2022

The Children of Israel were on the edge of the Promised Land, about to begin a new era in the history of their people. They sent spies to see what this new land was like. When the spies came back they reported that there were some very good things in the land and also some very scary things. It's a new school year and you may be just beginning something new. There will probably be some very good things and, perhaps, some very scary things. What should you do? | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • When to Move Forward

Worship Service: Sermon only - 4 Sep, 2022

It's understandable that the Children of Israel doubted whether they could conquer the land of Canaan, once they'd heard the report from the spies. There were giants and fortified cities in their way. How do we know whether the obstacles in our way are something to be overcome or a sign from the Lord that we're going the wrong direction? | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • I Will Run in the Way of Your Commandments

Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 28 Aug, 2022

(Psalm 119:32). The Scriptures are full of examples of people running: Esau running to meet his brother Jacob, the multitudes running to hear Jesus preach, Peter and John running to the tomb on Easter morning. Running carries with it the idea of urgency, of doing something from set-purpose. As to our spirit, we’re all runners. But what are we running toward or from? | By Rev. Derek P. Elphick , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • To Run and Not Be Weary

Worship Service: Sermon only - 28 Aug, 2022

(Isaiah 40:31) Running is hard to do half-heartedly. Either we do it or we don’t. In other words, we don’t run unless we’re intent on doing something important. This fits with the correspondence of running – "wanting to make something known" (AC 3804). As to our spirit, we "run" to communicate our intent, our desire. The goal is to run "in the way" of the Lord’s commandments, and away from the things that make us weary. | By Rev. Derek P. Elphick , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • Don't Add Good to Bad

Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 21 Aug, 2022

When we have done something wrong, we might want to "fix" it by adding something good to it. The Lord asks us instead to remove the bad first, and that makes room for the good. | By Rev. Scott I. Frazier , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • The Woman at the Well

Worship Service: Sermon only - 21 Aug, 2022

The Lord's conversation with the Samaritan woman about water, marriage, and worship shows us now to think, love, and obey the truth. It is a story calling us back to true worship for enlightenment and happiness. | By Rev. Scott I. Frazier , Bryn Athyn Cathedral
