Our mission is to preserve New Church audio recordings and make them available to all. We provide audiobooks of works by Emanuel Swedenborg, recordings of New Church sermons, Swedenborgian classes, and more. These offer opportunities for Bible study and spiritual growth, exploring Biblical symbolism and New Church theology.

New Church Audio is a program of The New Church, an international Christian organization.

The New Church is a Christian denomination based on the Bible and the revelation given to Emanuel Swedenborg. We believe that true faith is loving the Lord Jesus Christ by following his teachings and being of service to others.

If you enjoyed listening, please consider making a donation to support this service.

  • Spying Out the Land

Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 4 Sep, 2022

The Children of Israel were on the edge of the Promised Land, about to begin a new era in the history of their people. They sent spies to see what this new land was like. When the spies came back they reported that there were some very good things in the land and also some very scary things. It's a new school year and you may be just beginning something new. There will probably be some very good things and, perhaps, some very scary things. What should you do? | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • When to Move Forward

Worship Service: Sermon only - 4 Sep, 2022

It's understandable that the Children of Israel doubted whether they could conquer the land of Canaan, once they'd heard the report from the spies. There were giants and fortified cities in their way. How do we know whether the obstacles in our way are something to be overcome or a sign from the Lord that we're going the wrong direction? | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • I Will Run in the Way of Your Commandments

Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 28 Aug, 2022

(Psalm 119:32). The Scriptures are full of examples of people running: Esau running to meet his brother Jacob, the multitudes running to hear Jesus preach, Peter and John running to the tomb on Easter morning. Running carries with it the idea of urgency, of doing something from set-purpose. As to our spirit, we’re all runners. But what are we running toward or from? | By Rev. Derek P. Elphick , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • To Run and Not Be Weary

Worship Service: Sermon only - 28 Aug, 2022

(Isaiah 40:31) Running is hard to do half-heartedly. Either we do it or we don’t. In other words, we don’t run unless we’re intent on doing something important. This fits with the correspondence of running – "wanting to make something known" (AC 3804). As to our spirit, we "run" to communicate our intent, our desire. The goal is to run "in the way" of the Lord’s commandments, and away from the things that make us weary. | By Rev. Derek P. Elphick , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • Don't Add Good to Bad

Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 21 Aug, 2022

When we have done something wrong, we might want to "fix" it by adding something good to it. The Lord asks us instead to remove the bad first, and that makes room for the good. | By Rev. Scott I. Frazier , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • The Woman at the Well

Worship Service: Sermon only - 21 Aug, 2022

The Lord's conversation with the Samaritan woman about water, marriage, and worship shows us now to think, love, and obey the truth. It is a story calling us back to true worship for enlightenment and happiness. | By Rev. Scott I. Frazier , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • Let Your Light Shine

Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 14 Aug, 2022

Can a person really "shine?" If so, what is it in us that shines and why would the Lord ask us to do this? Who benefits? We will be exploring the difference between "hiding" our light and letting it shine before others, and how the former is actually a disservice to our neighbor while the latter is an expression of love and gratitude, an expression of charity. | By Rev. Derek P. Elphick , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • Shine

Worship Service: Sermon only - 14 Aug, 2022

Moses' face was said to have "shone" when he came down from Mount Sinai with the second set of tablets (Ex. 34:29). It was such a startling moment for Aaron and the children of Israel that they were afraid to come near him. We talk about a person's face "shining" or "beaming" (and how pleasant that is) but in the spiritual world this happens quite literally (see TC 209). The Lord wants us to shine, not simply for our own wellbeing and happiness, but for the sake of our neighbor too. We will be exploring why it is that our friends, neighbors and family need to see us shine. | By Rev. Derek P. Elphick , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • Sharing What We've Been Given

Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 7 Aug, 2022

Sharing is hard - for children and also for adults. When we can remember all that the Lord has given us, it can help us to loosen our grip on what we have and feel less threatened by what the Lord has given to other people. | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • Breaking Bread

Worship Service: Sermon only - 7 Aug, 2022

As preparation for taking the Lord's Holy Supper, we will be talking about the significance of breaking bread and sharing it. Particularly in Western culture, there can be a lot of emphasis on individuality and working on our individual lives but the Lord's goal for us is to be part of a larger whole in which we give and receive freely. How can we work towards that goal? | By Rev. Malcolm G. Smith , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • John's Vision of the Lord

Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 31 Jul, 2022

John had followed Jesus for three years. But now John was an old man living on the Island of Patmos. And here the Lord appeared to John in a totally new way. John heard a loud voice and he turned to see the Lord standing in the midst of seven golden lamp stands. We will see what this is like in our lives when we hear the voice of the Lord calling us. | By Rt. Rev. Thomas L. Kline , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • John's Vision of the Lord

Worship Service: Sermon only - 31 Jul, 2022

When John saw the Lord appearing before him on the Isle of Patmos, he was able to see and behold the very essence of God. John's vision is a vision that each of us is to behold as we come to see Him revealed in His Second Coming. This first chapter in the book of Revelation describes the miracle that each of us is to experience in our relationship with the Lord. | By Rt. Rev. Thomas L. Kline , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • "Go Forward"

Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 17 Jul, 2022

Even though the command to "go forward" seemed like certain doom, the Israelites did it anyway and the Red Sea was miraculously parted. But as the Israelites crossed the dry seabed, they looked back in horror to discover Pharoah's army driving towards them in chariots, but then the wheels of the chariots fell off! That changed everything. We will consider the spiritual significance of "wheels" and how they symbolize the power to go forward. | By Rev. Derek P. Elphick , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • Got Momentum?

Worship Service: Sermon only - 17 Jul, 2022

When we have momentum in our lives, things go well, when we lose momentum, we get frustrated and lost. In the account of the Red Sea Crossing (Exodus 14) we learn how the Lord "troubled" the Egyptian army causing the wheels of their war chariots to fall off. We will consider how the Lord "fights" for us (v 25) by cutting off our negative momentum and replacing it with true, lasting momentum, the kind that carries us forward to happier, peaceful states. | By Rev. Derek P. Elphick , Bryn Athyn Cathedral

  • Does God Break God's Own Rules?

Worship Service: Family (may include music) - 3 Jul, 2022

With a clear and stark warning, the Lord places Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, telling them that if they eat of the tree of knowledge and evil, that they will die. They do eat of it. They don't die. Did God break His own rules? Or did He break ours? | By Rev. Charles E. Blair , Bryn Athyn Cathedral
