Reading particularly in the Old Testament, but also in places in the New Testament, we can run across statements that not only do not reflect a loving God, but actually convey the opposite idea. If we are to hold onto the idea that the Lord is perfect love expressing itself in perfect wisdom, we need to know why the Word speaks so differently from what we might expect.
