When we approach the Word we can come with an affirmative or negative attitude. The negative attitude withholds belief in the Word of God until it can be proved by facts and rational arguments. The affirmative attitude approaches the Word of God as true because it is the Word of God. The question to ask to pursue a rational faith is not: is it true? The question to ask is: how is it true?
