We are taught that Jesus' healing of people suffering from leprosy, is symbolic of his healing every person who comes to Him, acknowledging that they are falling short of living up to His standards as they understand them. New Church teachings say that leprosy symbolizes profanation. We profane whenever we mingle something holy with something unholy.
