Joseph was a remarkable man. When he found out that Mary was pregnant, he decided to put her away privately. There was no question that she had been unfaithful in his mind. When he found out who the child was, he took Mary as his wife, stating to the world that the child was his, and he raised the Lord. He became the Lord's protector, leaving Judea for Egypt in the middle of the night.
