Description: 2 Kings 4: 1-7. To make possible the miraculous regeneration of her small jar of oil, Elisha instructed the indebted widow to “borrow vessels” and “shut the door.” The imagery here suggests that our spiritual lives develop as a result of some combination of both “borrowed states” and the private decisions of our conscience.
